Following an extensive
evaluation including a thorough history, orthopedic and
neurological examination, Dr. Provenzano will implement a
personalized treatment plan to fit your individual needs and
goals in an attempt to regain your maximum functional ability
and independence.
The doctor may use a combination of manual therapy skills, physical
therapy modalities and exercises including range of motion,
strengthening, stabilization, conditioning and balancing
activities during the course of your care. Please notify the
doctor of any significant medical history including cancer,
infection, pace maker, and or pregnancy since some of these
treatments may be contraindicated. |

| NMES:
Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation: Uses an electrical current
to help strengthen weakened and atrophied muscles and to promote
range of motion and strength. |

| TENS:
Uses an electrical current to help decrease chronic pain. |
| |
| IFC
(Interferential Current): Uses an electrical current to
help decrease pain and inflammation as well as to promote proper
healing of damaged soft tissues. |

| Ultrasound:
Uses sound waves to help decrease pain and inflammation as well
as to promote deep heating of soft tissues and proper healing. |
| |
| Ultrasound
Combination Therapy: Combines the benefits of ultrasound
and IFC to decrease pain, muscle spasms and trigger point
formation. |

|
Iontophoresis/Phonophorisis: Uses either an electrical
current (Iontophoresis) or ultrasound wave (Phonphoresis) to
help deliver medication, usually an anti-inflammatory or steroid
prescribed by your doctor to damaged tissues. |

| Joint
mobilization/Manipulation: A manual therapy technique
ranging from a grade I mobilization to a grade V manipulation of
the joints. Used to decrease pain, prevent adhesions/scar tissue
formation, promote proper joint motion / normal biomechanics as
well as improve overall range of motion. |

| Massage:
(Affiliated with licensed massage therapist). Manual soft tissue
technique used to decrease pain, spasms/tightness, break up
adhesions and scar tissue formation to promote improved range of
motion. |

| Traction:
Either manual or mechanical used to decrease pain, inflammation,
prevent scar tissue formation, decompress discs/joints, and
remove pressure or irritation on surrounding nerves and to
promote improved range of motion. |

| Trigger
Point Therapy: Manual ischemic compression, stretching,
ultrasound, electrical stimulation or combination therapy used
to break up found trigger points and decrease pain. |

| Various
stretching techniques: Manual stretching techniques used
to decrease muscle tightness/spasms and promote improved range
of motion. |

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF): A manual
therapy technique incorporating various stretching,
strengthening and balancing activities to promote improved
strength, balance, range of motion and conditioning. |

| Therapeutic
Exercise: Prescribed exercises used to strengthen
weakened muscles in an attempt to regain strength, range of
motion and regain maximum function and prevent longer term
de-conditioning and disability. |

| Lumbar/Core
Stabilization: A series of prescribed exercises used to
strengthen weakened core/spinal stabilizers and weakened
abdominals thus promoting spinal stability during functional
activities. |

| Gait
Training: Instructional advice on proper walking with or
without the use of assistance. |

| Home
Exercise Program (HEP) / Ergonomic Instruction: Patients
are given a series of home stretches and exercises as well as
instructions on proper sitting, bending, sleeping, lifting and
computer usage in an attempt to promote independence and prevent
long term disability. |
